A 1.6 liter car for:
He (Palmer) continued: “Are you coming to the Tokyo Motor Show? You’ll see the answer to the midlife crisis. Except it won’t be for the midlife crisis. ” Rather, he explained, it will be for someone like me, a male car enthusiast in his mid-to-late twenties. “You’re perfect [for it]. You’ll love it.”
That's such hypocritical bullshit. Its like when you go to a shop and the shop-keeper always says mine is gold and others' is literally bullshit with a tax disc.

...and on that pretentious note, we can expect an exact copy of this built to make regulations now.
Because you shouldn't make fun of a car whose quality you can't absolutely overshadow.

Nissan has been one of the most consistent Japanese performance auto manufacturers. What he said is clearly to draw headlines. The best kind of press is free press.

I kinda like those sucker punches thrown by execs, it denotes passion, they are excited about their future products, and want to raise anticipation.
I wonder what the retaliation will be, and by who? Tetsuya Tada making fun of the fact that Palmer is not a car guy? Akio Toyoda having a few words for Carlos Ghosn's pet, or telling Ghosn to slap his employe, lol.

Is the BRZ not anemic already with a 2 liter? I shudder to think how this will be unless its forced induction

Are you being sarcastic? This is literally what everyone on here wants to happen all the time. Who cares what they say about the competition...the important thing here is that they care enough to start shit talking... let me say that again... they care enough about a performance, driver oriented vehicle that will come in at a reasonable targeted at mid to late 20 year old car peoplethat they are actually starting to hype beyond a tv commercial and even talk shit about the incredibly awesome competition they face. I for one am thrilled by this! Can you imagine 3-5 years from now what's going to be on the market? First Toyota, now Nissan, possibly Honda, even ford, dodge, and gm have hinted at the idea. Shits about to get real.

On the other hand, that's a good rendering of the new Z. Pretty.

I didn't thought about it this way because mudslinging isn't a charming concept with me, but another dude pointed out similarly so yeah, I understand your point. But still, I don't like them to engage in pissing-contests and should actually make something.
We all know how many affordable good cars Nissan produced in the pass so it isn't a shame to look into your past to learn from mistakes. Anyways, I don't know...

The answer to the midlife crisis, but it's not for a midlife crisis? Wouldn't the question have to be "what should I buy for the midlife crisis"? I haven't seen one midlife crisiser driving a Toyobaru.

Haha, what confidence! You know what, this is actually awesome, something to look forward to from Nissan!
I said this before, but the greatest contribution that the BRZ/FR-S/GT86 will do is that, if successful, it would force other car manufacturers to start making cars that can compete in that segment. I wonder who else will step up to the challenge?
